Latu Kata never thought she would continue her education. At the age of 10, Latu dropped out of school in order to find work and care for her sick mother. While her older sister was able to go to school, Latu stayed home and cooked, cleaned, and worked to financially support her family and put her sister through school.

Latu’s patriarchal blessing says she will be “a great help” in giving advice to those around her, but she always wondered how that would happen without an education. Then she learned about the Church’s self-reliance program . She completed the course and loved it. Her experience inspired her to receive more education — which eventually led her to PathwayConnect.

When Latu heard about PathwayConnect, she jumped at the opportunity to continue her education. At first, the classes were difficult — but instead of giving up, Latu got down on her knees and asked Heavenly Father to help her. Through her hard work and dedication, she completed PathwayConnect with a 4.0 GPA and is now working toward an online degree through BYU-Idaho.
