In life, and especially in education, it can be easy for people to become discouraged when they feel they are not performing at their best. Sometimes, students put great effort into a goal and it doesn’t work out the way they hoped. During this time, it is crucial to remember that our Father in Heaven will always walk beside us.
When we feel we are falling short of our expectations, comfort can be found in the words of the Lord when he said, “If men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.”1

By turning to the Lord, Joseph Smith became a mighty instrument in God’s hands.
This principle can also be seen in the story of Joseph Smith. When Joseph received the gold plates, he had no way of knowing how to translate them — this was his weakness. But because he trusted in the Lord and humbled himself to learn and understand, Joseph became a mighty instrument in the Lord’s hands.
It can be easy to forget our worth and the reasons behind our trials and weaknesses, but if we put our trust in Christ and submit ourselves to Him, He will make us strong.
When education or life gets you discouraged, I encourage you to push forward and trust Christ with all your heart. He will put His loving and guiding arms around you and take you to the places He knows you need to be.

Corey, you said, “if we put our trust in Christ and submit ourselves to Him, He will make us strong”. I am sure of that because I have had remarkable experiences while studying at Pathway. I felt the Holy Ghost leading my steps to finish my assignments when I thought it was impossible. These experiences has showed me that Jesus Christ has taken me “to the places He knows [I] need to be”.
Wonderful message this week. I really needed to hear this as I have been struggling with not measuring up to what the Lord expects of me.
Great article and insight. Just what I needed to hear .
Thank you, Caryl. Boise, I’d.
i have been searching for exactly the right things to say to a struggling student …now I need not worry..this article hits the nail on the head.
Thank you Br.Corey..you are blessed.
This is very timely!! I’m in struggle right now and I’m always grateful for the support of my Wife. Your last paragraph really hits me.
“When education or life gets you discouraged, I encourage you to push forward and trust Christ with all your heart. He will put His loving and guiding arms around you and take you to the places He knows you need to be.”
That’s a great promise.. That the Lord will bring me to places (or situations/circumstances) He knows I need to be!!
I know that the Lord will never leave us comfortless.
Thanks Corey for this inspiring Post. 🙂 Thank You.
