In 2013, Elvis Aruhor joined PathwayConnect to become more self-reliant and able to support his family. Now, four years later, Elvis has earned a bachelor’s degree through BYU-Idaho Online and has launched his own business.

Occupational Pursuits

“PathwayConnect gave me life-transforming skills. It inspired me to take my future into my own hands and finish my education online,” Elvis said. “I wanted to receive world-class education to take on my future career goals, and that’s exactly what PathwayConnect gave me.”

Elvis earned an associate degree in general studies and a bachelor’s degree in business management from BYU-Idaho online, presented and coordinated through BYU-Pathway, in Fall 2016. But he didn’t stop there. Elvis took the skills he learned in his degrees and applied them to his own business.

“PathwayConnect taught me about setting SMART goals ,” Elvis said. “I achieved my goal of starting my own business, because I applied the planning and financial management skills I learned in PathwayConnect and my online degree.”

In 2015, Elvis opened his own business and has seen great success in the Greater Accra area, providing catering and event planning for parties, weddings, and more.

“Creating my own event management business and launching my website is only the beginning. I intend to further my education by earning a master's degree in business administration and work for a multinational corporation to gain even greater experience and connections.”

A Worthwhile Endeavor

Working toward a degree takes patience, hard work, and a vision of a better, more educated tomorrow.

“Just like any worthwhile endeavor in life, obtaining an education is not easy,” Elvis said. “I consider my decision to join PathwayConnect one of the best I have ever made. My life has been richly blessed by it.”

Elvis has learned that there is no substitute for education — it is one of the best investments individuals can make.

“I have been faced with a lot of challenging situations in life. Without the gospel I wouldn’t have been able to pull through,” Elvis testified. “It is the knowledge of the gospel that keeps me going and pressing forward with faith even when I am faced with daunting tasks that seem impossible to overcome.”

Through PathwayConnect , individuals can learn the necessary skills for becoming more educated and successful. PathwayConnect can lay the foundation of a brighter tomorrow.
