10 General Conference Quotes to Brighten Your Day

What inspired revelation does God want you to hear?

The general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has something for everyone — and students are no exception. Modern prophets, apostles, and other Church leaders share messages that inspire us to deepen our testimonies of the gospel, serve our neighbors, and draw closer to Christ. Some of these messages even focus on education, perseverance, and positive change.

Hearing these encouraging words is a good way to remember why you started your educational journey in the first place. You are not just increasing your self-reliance — you are improving your eternal growth. You are becoming more like Heavenly Father and the Savior.

Here are just a few of the uplifting messages from the April 2022 General Conference. While reading, what stands out to you? How can you apply what you learn and feel into your studies and life?

“Yes, we should learn from the past, and yes, we should prepare for the future. But only now can we do. Now is the time we can learn. Now is the time we can repent. Now is the time we can bless others and ‘lift up the hands which hang down.’”1
— President Russell M. Nelson

“Striving to be self-reliant is part of our work along the covenant path that leads us back to Heavenly Father and to His Son, Jesus Christ. It will strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ and joyfully bind us to Him through the covenants and ordinances of salvation and exaltation.”2
— Elder Hugo E. Martinez

“Each of our stories is a journey still in progress, as we discover, create, and become with possibilities beyond imagination.”3
— Elder Gerrit W. Gong

“When we look at our lives and see a hundred things to do, we feel overwhelmed. When we see one thing—loving and serving God and His children, in a hundred different ways—then we can work on those things with joy.”4
— Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“No matter our circumstances, our lives are sacred and have meaning and purpose.”5
— Sister Susan H. Porter

“One of Satan’s greatest lies is that men and women cannot change.”6

“What great things does the Lord want you to accomplish? In His Church and kingdom, there are many opportunities to serve and minister to others as the Savior did. He wants you to be part of His great work. Never will the plan of happiness become more real to you than when you are helping others to live it.”7
— Elder Adrián Ochoa

“Realizing our eternal destiny is dependent on our choices.”8
— Elder Dale G. Renlund

“[Our repentance and obedience, our service and sacrifices] matter because they engage us in God’s work and are the means by which we collaborate with Him in our own transformation from natural man to saint.”9
— Elder D. Todd Christofferson

“Waiting upon the Lord can be a sacred place—a place of polishing and refining where we can come to know the Savior in a deeply personal way.”10

Ndodana Sithole says:

My inspiration came from our prophet, Russell M. Nelson, when he was encouraging everyone to enroll. I never hesitated. I enrolled and never looked back.

Damiano Chimaliro says:

I feel what Elder Dale G. Renlund has said, that for us to realise our eternal destiny, it depends on our choices, meaning that if we choose according to what the scriptures have taught us with the help of the Holy Spirit, we are bound to that eternal destiny.

I have been inspired by the message from Elder Hugo E. Martinez “Striving to be self-reliant is part of our work along the covenant path that leads us back to Heavenly Father and to His Son, Jesus Christ. It will strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ and joyfully bind us to Him through the covenants and ordinances of salvation and exaltation.” I know that when we becomes self-reliant, our faith will be strengthened.

Blessing Achika says:

I love the message by elder Bednard which say”we can remain steady in the storms of life by relying on the savior and becoming as a child” this is very true! When i become as a child, we will always have the assurance that everything we need our heavenly father is there to provide, when we rely on Him, we wouldn’t feel the heaviness of any burden, I know this to be true.
